Our unique works of art are designed and handcrafted on the Isle of Man.
Transforming Raw Wood into Beautiful Works of Art
All of our Artworks are handcrafted from solid hardwood.
Our wood is sourced from reliable sources and is certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or the PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).
After carefully selecting our raw hardwood, the unfinished block is cut and planed to size. After transferring our design onto the wood, the wood is cut to shape and meticulously sanded using multiple grades of sandpaper to ensure an incredibly smooth finish. The shapes are then assembled accordingly, using adhesives in conjunction with other joining methods.
After being branded with our logo, the wood is finished with a superior blend of specially selected pure waxes, including beeswax. Anti-scratch flocking dots are then applied to the base.
The variety of colours, textures and grain patterns of the hardwoods make for some beautiful, striking artworks. These natural characteristics, ensure that each piece is unique.
We use a high quality art resin which is derived from museum conservation-grade materials to ensure its water-clear clarity is preserved for decades. Many resins contain a UV stabilizer to help delay the epoxy's natural yellowing process, however this alone is not enough to prevent yellowing from happening. The resin we use contains both a UV stabilizer as well as an advanced additive called HALS (hindered amine light stabilizer) that interrupts the yellowing process before it can begin.
We create amazing, unique visual effects by combining the resin with media such as inks, mica powder, metallic and opaque pigments and glitter.
The resin movement and reaction to the various media is unpredictable but always fascinating - no two pieces can ever be the same.
Before applying the finished resin work to the wood, we polish it by hand to reveal amazing depth, a stunning shine and a smooth finish.
